Barley news Australia: Very good prospects for Australian malting barley

In view of the expected good crop in Australia prices of No. 1 malting barley dropped to round about US $ 190 CIF China, from both Australia and Canada.

The EU is not competitive at such a level. The EU, viz. Denmark, however, shipped one cargo to South Africa and will ship another one to Colombia, because of quality and logistics problems in Canada

Overall export prospects are good for Australia, as it will be the great supplier of China. Prospects are restricted for Canada by a small selection of malting barley and a chronic shortage of rail transport, and they are not good for the EU.

Its major outlet in recent years was usually Russia, but the country harvested a very satisfactory crop, which makes the size of malting barley imports uncertain.
